Graffiti ART or VANDALISM ?

Graffiti range from simple written text to elaborate wall paintings. It has existed since the beginning of mankind, with evidences from ancient Egypt, Greece, India etc.

There are a beautiful way to conveys one’s sentiments and thoughts. Graffiti is often an artistic expression of social and political messages on the present society. These paintings and texts are fundamental and essential parts of human development that serve to communicate ideas and message to the common mass. They serve to create an illusion to passers-by to galvanize their perceptions of the world.

I think it’s a very liberating and beautiful way of expressing one’s thoughts. But in most countries, wall paintings and graffiti is viewed as an act of vandalism, hence, considered a punishable offence. Therefore, often to protect themselves artists have to remain anonymous. This is something I feel very strongly against, graffiti is an art, not vandalism. It is a method for artist who wish to express themselves on a public forum. Banksy, one of the most notorious and popular street artist continues to remain faceless in society. Do you think it is fair for him to live anonymously when he produces such wonderful pieces of artwork? Is it right for the street artists to not receive the appreciation they deserve?
